The number of fatalities from heavy monsoon rain and floods over Luzon since last weekend rose further to 18 Thursday afternoon, the NDRRMC said.

Tropical Depression “Maring” dumped heavy rain on the Philippines on Tuesday, flooding Metro Manila and nearby provinces and causing landslides and flash floods that killed four people.

Seminar on Flood Prevention, Protection and Mitigation

Floods pose a serious challenge for cities around the world, particularly in the Philippines, affecting the lives and livelihoods of millions of urban dwellers. Urban flooding is becoming increasingly costly and difficult to manage, as low- and middle-income countries transition to largely urban societies, with a greater concentration of people and assets in urban centers, which are important hubs for economic activity and development.

The seminar on Seminar on Flood Prevention, Protection and Mitigation will showcase experts and environmental researchers that will tackle about economical innovations regarding flood prevention—technology and products. Working with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the local government, Iwas Baha: Bacoor is helping capture experience and expertise in integrated urban flood risk management as we invest in knowledge to improve urban resilience. Be a part of this effort, and join the talk!  

Students Flood Preparendess

Pupils from Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences strand of Statefields School Inc. will provide an extensive discussion for flood preparedness at their school's Multimedia Centre. Elementary and JHS students and outsiders are most welcome to join in the seminar to spread awareness and as well provide ways on solving Bacoor City's problem regarding flooding. The organizers will explore the flooding challenges of the locality and the approaches and operational practices the local government is putting in place to better manage the municipality’s flooding risk.

With the help of Red Cross—Cavite, Iwas Baha: Bacoor City will conduct a seminar about 'First Aid Tips' on August 8, 2018 at the Bacoor Goverment Center. Professional medical practitioners will be participating in discussing prevalent diseases caused by floods, such as Leptospirosis and Dengue, to help you be educated about the dangers of flash floods to your health. Free teaching sessions from the experts and medical kits will be given to help you practice your new acquired knowledge and skills. Inquire  for details.

Bacoor, Cavite's City Wide Clean-Up Drive

On August 19, 2018, the Bacoor City Government will conduct a clean-up drive at Camella, Springville, Molino 3.  The program is organized by the Bacoor Veterinary Services Office in order to propogate support and cooperation towards improving the the city's living environment and surroundings.
